Datchakorn Tancharoen, Ph.D. (Thai Language)


Datchakorn Tancharoen received the B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in 1998. He continued his Master Degree majoring in Communication Engineering and Digital Signal Processing in the same department with the scholarship of Thai Graduated Institute Science and Technology (TGIST) from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and received the M.Eng. in 2001. After he graduated, he joined the research project as a research assistant in the Center of Excellence in Telecommunication, Chulalongkorn University and he was also selected as the National Team of Thailand in Fencing Sport from 2000 to 2003. During that time, he got the scholarship from Toshiba Foundation to join the training program as a research engineer with Toshiba CMC in Yokohama, Japan. In 2003, he was awarded the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho Scholarship) to study in the University of Tokyo. He received the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering in 2007. His research works include Multimedia and Information Retrieval, Digital Image Processing, and Wearable Computer System. During his term in Japan, he has been the President of Thai Students’ Association in Japan under Royal Patronage (TSAJ) from 2005 to 2006, the Chairperson of IEEE Students Branch in the University of Tokyo from 2004 to 2007, and the Chairperson of Thai Students in the University of Tokyo (ThaiTodai) from 2005 to 2007. He came back to Thailand and started working as a Lecturer at Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI) in Department of Information Technology from June 2007. Since January 2008, he is assigned as an Assistant President for Information Technology and International Affairs. His lectures include Internet Technology, Computer Organization, Electrical Engineering, and Multimedia Technology. Currently, he is selected as the executive committee of Old Japanese Students' Association, Thailand (OJSAT) and the secretary general for Japanese Government Scholarship Alumni, Thailand (JGSAT). He is also the founder of Sports Chanbara Association, Thailand.  Until now, there are many activities to gain the relationship between Thailand and Japan. In November 2009, he comes to join CP All Group and Panyapiwat Institute of Technology (PIT) as the Chairperson for Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology. His current research is about Multimedia Processing, Web Technology and Thai Computational Linguistics. He also has some research collaborations with National Institue of Information and Communication Technology (NICT) and National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC).
