Datchakorn Tancharoen

Datchakorn Tancharoen, Ph.D.

Datchakorn Tancharoen received the B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in 1998. He continued his Master Degree majoring in Communication Engineering and Digital Signal Processing in the same department with the scholarship of Thai Graduated Institute Science and Technology (TGIST) from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and received the M.Eng. in 2001. After he graduated, he joined the research project as a research assistant in the Center of Excellence in Telecommunication, Chulalongkorn University and he was also selected as the National Team of Thailand in Fencing Sport from 2000 to 2003. During that time, he got the scholarship from Toshiba Foundation to join the training program as a research engineer with Toshiba CMC in Yokohama, Japan.

In 2003, he was awarded the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho Scholarship) to study in the University of Tokyo. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2007. His research works include Multimedia and Information Retrieval, Digital Image Processing, and Wearable Computer System. During his term in Japan, he also acted as the President of Thai Students’ Association in Japan under Royal Patronage (TSAJ) from 2005 to 2006, the Chairperson of IEEE Students Branch in the University of Tokyo from 2004 to 2007, and the Representative of Thai Students in the University of Tokyo (ThaiTodai) from 2005 to 2007. He came back to Thailand and started working as a Lecturer at Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology in Department of Information Technology from June 2007. Since January 2008, he is assigned as an Assistant President for Information Technology and International Affairs. His lectures include Internet Technology, Computer Organization, Electrical Engineering, and Multimedia Technology.
